Chamber applauds agreement reached to keep 777X work in Washington state

SEATTLE – The Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce applauds the agreement reached by the Boeing Company and the International Association of Machinists (IAM) District 751, whose vote tonight sealed the assembly of Boeing’s 777X and the construction of its composite wings, keeping aerospace employees and suppliers working in Washington state.

“We applaud all parties for coming together to reach an agreement that allows Washington to remain a vibrant and competitive place for aerospace manufacturing,” said Maud Daudon, president and CEO of the Chamber and vice-president and treasurer of the Washington Aerospace Partnership.

The Chamber has a long history of supporting the aerospace industry—a major driver of our state’s economy employing more than 132,500 aerospace and aerospace-related workers in Washington. As part of its role as co-founder of the Washington Aerospace Partnership, the Chamber was critical in supporting Boeing’s successful bid for the Air Force’s aerial re-fueling tankers in 2011, and the region’s work to guarantee local assembly of the Boeing 737 MAX.
