FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 11, 2015 ** This press release has been updated to reflect the new application deadline of April 17** Chef at the Market program accepting applications from Alaska chefs (Palmer, AK) – The Chef at the Market program is currently accepting applications from Alaska chefs interested in providing cooking demonstrations during the 2015 farmers market season. The Division of Agriculture intends to award multiple contracts for chef demonstrations between May and September. The Chef at the Market program began in 2011 to promote Alaska Grown specialty crops and teach consumers creative ways to prepare them. The program also provides an opportunity for chefs to develop relationships with local food vendors that supply restaurants with their products. During the summer of 2014, six Alaska chefs performed 36 demonstrations at ten local farmers markets. Applications for the 2015 season are due by Friday, April 17.
