NEWARK, Del. --  The University of Delaware women’s outdoor track & field team dominated the action and picked up its third team title of the spring Saturday as the Blue Hens captured 13 events at the Delaware Classic at Grant Stadium.

Freshman Sarah Hillman (Polytech/Dover, Del.), senior Amira Idris (Hylton/Woodbridge, Va./at left), and junior Latazah Coleman (Appoquinimink/Middletown, Del.) each were double winners on the day and helped Delaware earn 318.5 points to easily outdistance Towson (112.5) in the 10-team field. Villanova was third followed by Wesley and Morgan State.

Villanova won the men’s college team title while high school team winners were the Wilmington Charter girls and the Newark boys.

Hillman won the shot put (42-1.5) and discus (153-3) while also finishing second in the hammer (148-9), Idris captured both the long jump (18-0.5) and triple jump (39-0.25), and Coleman swept the sprint events by winning the 100 meters (12.19) and 200 meters (24.96).

Hillman, who already holds the UD freshman marks in the shot put and discus, broke the overall school record in the discus, surpassing the mark of 150-10 set by Alana Pantae in 2012.

Also claiming first place finishes for the Blue Hens were senior Breanna Nicholson (North Brunswick/North Brunswick, N.J.) in the 400 meter hurdles (1:03.44), sophomore Leslie Ope(William Penn/New Castle, Del./at right) in the 100 meter hurdles (15.21), senior Monica Hagenauer (Parkland/Schnecksville, Pa.) in the hammer (154-8), senior Kelsey Evancho(Lenape, N.J./Lewes, Del.) in the high jump (5-5); freshman Angie Spadaccini(Padua/Wilmington, Del.) in the 800 meters (2:17.68), senior Katrina Steenkamer (St. Mark’s, Del./Rising Sun, Md.) in the 1,500 meters (4:40.49), and the  4 x 400 meter relay team (3:59.39).
