MONTANA CHAMBER FEATURED AT NATIONAL CONFERENCE 
 
Webb Brown, President/CEO of the Montana Chamber of Commerce, assumed the Chairmanship of the Council of State Chambers (COSC) at that organization's Annual Meeting in Oklahoma City recently. And the State Chamber brought home four awards from the Association of State Chamber Professionals (ASCP) at the same event.
 
"I'm honored to lead COSC for the coming year," said Brown. "This organization has been rewarding for me personally as well as the Montana Chamber and our state."
 
The Montana Chamber earned top honors in membership retention (in dollars) and in non-dues revenue growth. The state chamber also received runner-up awards in highest membership growth in dollars and highest market share. Membership Director Pete Burwell accepted the awards on behalf of the Chamber.
 
Government Relations Director Glenn Oppel attended concurrent meetings of the State Policy Center, a subsidiary of COSC. The overall conference featured presentations on leadership, membership, communications, and government affairs, all strong components of state chamber activity.
 
Brown led a discussion of Best and Worst Ideas, as well as speaking at the Banquet. During the conference, Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt spoke on states' rights, while the US Chamber of Commerce gave an election update, and author Chris Mead provided excerpts from his book on the history of American chambers of commerce.
 
COSC was founded in 1944 to promote cooperation among state chambers of commerce by interchange of views regarding the policies and practices.
